It’s more than just a board game;
It’s a mission to end civic illiteracy.
Our Mission
Branch Out! is fueled by a singular mission: to make Constitutional and civics education equitable and accessible to everyone.
Pictured from left to right: Legislative Branch Trivia Card, Civic Crisis Card, and Civic Action Card. While branch trivia cards — like Legislative Branch Trivia Cards — test players’ knowledge of the three branches of the United States government, Civic Crisis Cards allow players to act as members of the government to solve pressing issues ranging from national security to disaster response, rewarding or penalizing their “action” within a random draw. Civic Action Cards are dual-purpose cards. Similarly, Civic Action Cards reward or penalize players for civic actions on a random draw (i.e., “you attended a town hall meeting to learn about local issues, move forward 2 spaces!”), which encourages proper civic engagement actions/habits within voting, volunteerism, and more. Civic Action Cards also seek to inspire players to involve themselves civically within their local community by sharing potential engagement examples: Town Hall meetings, school board meetings, and more.
A Board Game to Inspire What’s Possible.
From its earliest development stages, Branch Out! has sought to fulfill its mission by fostering human connection.
This analog-style resource encourages players to strengthen their civic literacy while engaging in physical gameplay — all the while breaking down potential barriers to understanding posed by technological inaccessibility.
“I built this game – this bridge – not just to help solve our civic literacy crisis, but so millions of new bridges could be built without me.
Because bridges aren’t just temporary supporters, they’re lifelong vehicles for forward movement.”
— Julia Brumer, Founder/Creator of Branch Out!
